Funding has at last been announced for the long awaited regeneration of Pontypridd. £10.5 million of largely European and Assembly money has been set aside for projects to enhance the town centre.
Assembly candidate Mike Powell has given a cautious welcome to the announcement and hopes that work will soon get under way.
"Investment in the town is long overdue, and this money could go some way to making Pontypridd a more attractive place for visitors.
It will not in itself be enough to bring about its complete regeneration into the thriving County town we would like to see it become, but if the plans come to fruition then at least it will be a start."
