The ruling Labour group on RCT Council put a motion to full Council opposing Remploy closures in Dinas and Cwmbach, and of course having a dig at the coalition Government in the process.
The immaturity behind these digs is matched only by the hypocrisy that they exhibit in this and many other ways. And yet again they have shown what remarkably short memories they appear to have.
Nowhere in their motion did they mention this quote from the GMB General Secretary.
"This government-controlled operation has failed its people, its principles and its purpose. These closures are completely unnecessary. If Remploy was called Northern Rock I am certain that we would not be seeing a single redundancy."
The reason being that the quote appeared in 2007 in an article which began "The Work and Pensions Secretary, Peter Hain, has confirmed that proposals to close 28 of Remploy's factories have been approved by the Government."
That would be the LABOUR Government then. Strangely enough I don't recall the Labour group in RCT putting forward any motions then condemning the Government.
Wikipedia defines hypocrisy as:
"the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, ideals, thoughts, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie."
Precisely.
