Double standards of Ponty’s Labour AM

Wales Online today carried a story of a Labour AM who allegedly denied one of his employees, a Councillor in RCT, time off to attend Council meetings.

The article says that Labour Cllr Christopher Williams submitted a 24 page grievance complaint against Pontypridd Assembly Member Mick Antoniw stating that he was not allowed time off to attend Council meetings - a right he is entitled to by law. Cllr Williams has since left the post.

It shows once again the double standards that 'Slick Mick' employs.

The former partner in law firm Thompsons makes a big outward show of supporting employees' rights and is very much involved with the unions. Yet it appears he has little or no consideration for his own staff.

Prior to the Assembly elections it emerged that Thompsons had been censured and made to pay fines and costs amounting to £88,000 by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for irregularities involving miners' compensation claims.

When the Welsh Liberal Democrats mentioned this in leaflets both the Labour party and Thompsons threatened to sue - and empty threat as you cannot sue anyone for stating fact.

It is a mark of his character that he rented a house in Llantrisant for a couple of months prior to the election so that he could have a Pontypridd constituency address to put on his ballot paper. There is no proof that he ever so much as spent a night there, and after the election he let the house go and returned to his home in Newport where he still lives.

Is this really the sort of person residents in the constituency want representing them?
