The weekend ahead

2019 Hydref 26 9:30 AM

Welsh Liberal Democrats will be gathering in Brecon this weekend for our Autumn conference. Regardless of what may be on the official agenda then in the bar there is little doubt what the conversation will centre around.

Firstly of course the most important subject of the weekend - rugby. Will Wales beat South Africa? Will England squeeze through against the All Blacks? Can Ponty beat Bridgend away? (Well ok the last one may only be of interest to the RCT contingent but stil....)

The will there / won't there be a general election question continues unresolved. We seem to have been on alert for this since the last one two years ago and itis getting just a little bit wearing. There has been much talk of a remain alliance with varying opinions as to whether any pre-election deals should be done and if so with who. That subject is likely to cause a heated debate or two.

Then of course there is Brexit, which of course at a Lib Dem conference is likely to be the least controversial subject of discussion. As a party we are remainers. Yes there are some who think otherwise, but we have been consistent in our message overall - we are better off in the EU.

So here is to a weekend of serious political debate, fun with friends from across Wales, and hopefully some good news on the rugby front.
