Liberal Democrats stand aside in Pontypridd as part of unique agreement

2019 Tachwedd 10 2:08 PM

As part of a unique cross-party agreement the Liberal Democrats, along with the Green party, have decided to stand aside at this election in Pontypriddto allow Plaid Cymru the best chance of winning the Parliamentary seat.

We regret that consequently two of our most prominent members, Mike Powell & Karen Roberts, have resigned from the party due to dissatisfaction with the way the process has been handled. Mike & Karen have made enormous contributions to the party over the last two decades and have been valued friends & colleagues who will be missed by the local party. We fully understand their reasons for leaving and would like to wish them the best for the future.

As a local party, Rhondda Cynon Taff Liberal Democrats support the Unite to Remain campaign to secure more Remain supporting MPs in the next Parliament and prevent a destructive Conservative Brexit. We are proud to be putting our country's interest before our Party.
