December 14, 2011 8:49 PM

RCT Welsh Liberal Democrats are pleased to wlecome some good news for the area today with the announcement of 250 jobs being created at Treforest.

As reported by Wales Online Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) is creating 250 jobs with a £7m investment in a new training and operational centre in renewable energy.

The company has acquired a building in Treforest for its Swalec Smart Energy Centre, which is expected to become operational next summer. It will provide a base for specialist teams responding to the fast changing energy market. This will include micro-generation, PV installation, a new solid wall insulation business, and an expansion of its home services maintenance team.

It will also provide a base for the contracting division of SSE in addition to providing the skills to ensure the smooth roll out of smart meters in the future

The Welsh Liberal Democrats have said for some time that there needs to be more investment in green jobs. We have a strong history of manufacturing and the skills and talent to deliver.
