A&E waiting times in Wales still nowhere near target

February 18, 2015 6:42 PM

The latest A&E waiting times for Wales show that the number of people waiting more than 12 hours in A&E has hit an all time record high.

At the Royal Glamorgan 105 people waited more than 12 hours in January - more than 3 percent of those treated there. The target set by the Welsh Labour Government is that 95% of patients should be discharged or moved to in patient care as necessary within 4 hours. The figures for the Royal Glamorgan show only 85.9% were seen in that time. 1 in every 20 waited more than 8 hours.

The answer from the Labour Minister is the same as usual - hospitals are seeing more patients. That may be the case but staffing and facilities need to reflect that.
