They are just children They are not coming here for ****** nectar points

Whilst the world, including the UK, was distracted by the nonsensical but dangerous ramblings of an American President not worthy of the position, the Tories were banging shut the doors on vulnerable children desperate for shelter.

Teresa May and her heartless government are backtracking on a promise to take in 3000 unaccompanied child refuges whose homes and families have been torn apart by war. Instead they say 350 is all they can manage, and then the door will be closed and these most vulnerable human beings left to seek shelter elsewhere or fend for themselves.

As this article in The Guardian points out they can get away with this and anything else they like because the Labour party is totally ineffective as an opposition. Even Pontypridd's Labour MP Owen Smith agrees this is the case, tweeting the Guardian article with a comment that said simply "This is the brutal truth. About them, and us

Even more worrying is the attitude of some who would undoubtedly recoil in horror if they were told they had anything in common with the Tories they regard as so evil. Local social media sites showed the unbelievable attitude of some people who insist we should 'look after our own' first. As if a life is less worthy if that person is not your immediate neighbour.

The situation was best summed up, not by any politician, but by Alex Brooker on the topical Channel 4 comedy show The Last Leg. Commenting on the decision he said

"They're not coming here for f*****g nectar points, their houses have been bombed"

These children have nothing, absolutely nothing. Yet there are far too many who would simply turn them away and that is a frightening insight into our society.
