David Payne - our candidate for Ponty Town ward

April 6, 2017 9:20 AM

David Payne is the Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for the Town ward at the Council elections on 4 May.

David, who lives in Whiterock, says the people of Pontypridd have been let down by Labour, and indeed Plaid when they were in charge.

" Whilst nearby towns such as Merthyr are flourishing, Pontypridd has fallen behind. Millions of pounds of European money were spent on the failed pedestrianisation but high business rates and out of town retail parks are killing our high street.

"Strangely enough just before the election Labour have now announced reduced car parking charges which the Welsh Lib Dems have argued in favour of for years.

They have also promised to regenerate the precinct site, and whilst this would be very welcome it is something that has been promised time and time again and never happened.

"More needs to be done to bring new business to Pontypridd, to revitalise our market town and attract more local shoppers and visitors."
