The final decision on Brexit must lie with the people.

May 17, 2017 10:00 AM

Along with 48% of the British voting public, RCT Lib dems were far from happy with the result of the referendum in June 2016. In common with most Liberal Democrats we believe we are better off as part of a united Europe.

The leave campaign was based to a large extent on untruths and the spreading of mistrust, and the remain campaign was simply not good enough.

The Conservatives are now determined to lead us blindfolded off the cliff edge and the Labour party have done nothing to hold them back. Only the Liberal Democrats have stood firm in their beliefs.

We believe the public have the right to make a final decision based on the outcome of negotiations when they know exactly what the deal is. That is democracy.

That is why the Liberal Democrats want a second referendum when the outcome of the Brexit negotiations is known, so that the people can decide.

Giving back control.
