Post Office closure another blow for Pontypridd

December 28, 2017 9:00 AM

RCT Liberal Democrats have expressed disappointment at the sudden closure of the Post Office in Pontypridd town centre. The Post Office, which was housed in Mill Street in leasehold premises alongside Pounder's travel agent, is the latest in a long line of services lost to the town.

Councillor Mike Powell said

"This will come as a further blow to Pontypridd and the people who rely on this service. The past few years has seen the closure of many local post offices in the area and this comes out of the blue.

"It is sad too to see a much respected travel agent go out of business - Dennis Pounder Travel has been a familiar name in the town for many years.

"Hopefully the Post Office will be able to relocate elsewhere in the town within a short space of time - we have lost enough from Pontypridd "

The note which appeared on the door simply said "This office is now closed as Dennis Pounder Travel Limited the main agent for the Post Office has ceased trading and is going into voluntary liquidation."
